Curzon Cinemas are to present a duo of events to support the #SaveCurzonSoho campaign during the election week.
Boris Johnson’s involvement with demolishing one of London’s flagship arthouse cinemas, only to be replaced with a Crossrail ticket office, has sparked outrage amongst the city. But with Johnson’s time as London mayor coming to an end, it’s time to get down and show your support, and you can do just that by attending Curzon’s special events.
On May 3rd, a special panel discussion will follow the DocDays screening of MAPPLETHORPE: LOOK AT THE PICTURES which “focuses on the impact of recent urban developments on Soho’s LGBTQ community, inspired by the life and work of iconic photographer Robert Mapplethorpe.”
On May 6th, cult late night programmers Midnight Movies will return for a one-off screening of THE BLUES BROTHERS! which feature a live performance from a London choir as well as cocktails, DJs and more. It’s not to be missed.
Curzon Soho was recently named the ‘best cinema in London’ by readers of ‘Time Out’. And we couldn’t agree with that more. It’s a special place to see films at the heart of London and has too much history to simply be replaced. It’s well worth fighting for so please sign the petition to keep it going and keep cinema alive: 38degrees.org.uk/SaveCurzonSoho
