Daniel Radcliffe admits he wanted the new Spider-Man role

Daniel Radcliffe has admitted that he was keen to play the new Spider-Man in Marvel’s upcoming reboot.

Radcliffe told Metro of his intentions to play the web-slinging superhero:

“I would’ve been a good Spider-Man but the boat has sailed on that.”

The Harry Potter star wouldn’t reveal whether he actually auditioned for the role, but his choice of words, ‘the boat has sailed’ shows he may very well have had talks with Marvel.

Tom Holland won the role though and will make his solo film debut in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Radcliffe may have lost out the part to Holland but he did show his support for the new Spidey:

“I’m very happy to watch Tom Holland do it. He’s fantastic. I love superheroes.”

Recently. Holland shared an awesome selfie of himself on set:

As for Radcliffe, it’s not the first time he has revealed his interest in playing Spider-Man as two years ago he told London Live:

“Who wouldn’t want to do a superhero film? I went to Comic Con the other day dressed as Spider-Man purely out of childish wish fulfilment as wanting to be Spider-Man my entire life. Absolutely I’d do a superhero film, it’d be great fun.”

Unfortunately for Radcliffe, it wasn’t to be but we can see Holland don the famous blue and red suit when Spider-Man: Homecoming swings onto screens in July 2017.
