Deadpool 2 director leaves film over creative differences with Ryan Reynolds

Tim Miller, director of Deadpool and up until now, director of the film’s sequel has left the film due to ‘creative differences’ with Deadpool himself, Ryan Reynolds. Just what those differences might be have now surfaced, with The Wrap suggesting that Miller wanted the sequel to go in a more “stylised” direction, whilst Reynolds wants to stick with the “raunchy comedy style” established in the first movie.

Miller also wanted to cast Kyle Chandler (Bloodline, Friday Night Lights) as Cable in the sequel, which Reynolds didn’t agree with. 20th Century Fox ultimately sided with Reynolds and Miller moved on from the project. Yesterday Variety suggested the split was “amicable”, but The Wrap conversely suggests that their relationship had been “contentious” for some time.

A replacement director has yet to be announced.
