Deadpool 2: Tim Miller wanted to triple Ryan Reynolds’ proposed budget

Over the weekend, it was announced that Tim Miller had left his role as director of the Deadpool sequel, and now reports suggest that a disagreement over the film’s budget may have been the main cause for his departure.

According to The Wrap, an “individual familiar with the project” revealed that leading star Ryan Reynolds (along with writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick) wanted to make a “scrappy” sequel, much like the first film, with a similar budget of $58 million.

However, Miller wanted the follow-up to be “more stylish” with a bigger production budget that would be three times the $50 million spent on the original.

“There were two totally different movies on the table, and one of them just wasn’t Deadpool,” the source said.

20th Century Fox chose Reynolds over Miller and consequently the latter left the project. So Deadpool 2 is now in need of a director and some fans are petitioning for Quentin Tarantino to take the helm.
