Deadpool strips Fifty Shades of Grey of opening weekend record

Deadpool dominated the weekend’s box office with an estimated $135 million. And it even broke records as it became the biggest opening day ever for an R-rated film.

It also set a record high for both President’s Day weekend and the month of February, overtaking Fifty Shades of Grey‘s previous leading debut of $85.2 million.

Kung Fu Panda 3 slipped to second place with Warner Bros. romantic comedy How to Be Single in third. Check out the Top 10 domestic box office estimates below via Rentrak:
