Deadpool begins filming; Morena Baccarin’s role revealed

The Deadpool movie has been a long time coming. First announced back in 2009, the film has had some troubles and lingered in development hell – up until some swanky test footage leaked online, and set the fan world ablaze. 20th Century Fox promptly went about kicking the project into first gear, and here we are: Deadpool has now officially begun shooting. And it comes with two exciting (if not exactly revealing) set photos from stars Ryan Reynolds and Morena Baccarin on their Twitter pages:

These photos also reveal something interesting: we all knew Reynolds would be playing Wade Wilson, AKA Deadpool – but Baccarin’s tweet shows us what character she’ll be playing. That character looks like it’ll be Vanessa Carlysle, AKA Copycat: a mercenary mutant who can shape-shift. She’s touted as the romantic interest for Deadpool – but expect her to kick as much butt as the titular antihero.

Deadpool will be released February 12, 2016.
