Director Neill Blomkamp reveals new Alien 5 pulse rifle

Alien 5 director, Neill Blomkamp, has revealed the film’s new pulse rifle via Instagram:

The futuristic energy weapon appears to have a Rail Interface System (RIS). This allows the weapon’s operator to attach several accessories, such as a scope.

Blomkamp is no stranger to Sci-Fi: he directed the critically acclaimed District 9, followed it up with the Matt Damon-starring Elysium and this year’s Chappie. So it’s no surprise that he has a set vision for Alien 5. He wants the highly anticipated sequel to “feel like it’s literally the genetic sibling of Aliens.”

Alien 5 does not have a confirmed release date, but is expected to begin production in 2017.
