Director says Wreck-It Ralph 2 is still going ahead
Wreck-It Ralph‘s director Rich Moore has revealed that a sequel is still definitely happening, and that he’s even hoping to have Mario in the film.
When asked if a sequel will go ahead, Moore told IGN: “maybe, maybe” and then nodded and mouthed the word “yes.”
“I think the world of that first film is so big and the characters are very rich and I just think that they have more stories in them” he went onto say. “The end of the movie felt like a launching point. It felt like it wouldn’t be straining to tell another story in that world as some films are. To me, I feel like I can definitely see where it would go, and I think the audience kind of felt that way too.”
Wreck-It Ralph featured the likes of Pac-Man, Paperboy, Sonic, Frogger, Bowser. But Mario was nowhere to be seen due to licensing rights from Nintendo but that could change in the sequel.
“In the first one we didn’t have Mario in that movie, so it would be great to have the great Mario in a second one if we did it. [We now have] a good relationship with Nintendo”.
So expect a sequel to still happen and don’t rule out Mario making his long-awaited appearance.
