Disney Making Movie About Snow White’s Sister
Disney has been developing numerous live-action remakes of their animated classics, from Alice in Wonderland, to Maleficent, to Cinderella, to The Jungle Book, which comes out in April. It was only a matter of time until the Mouse House gave Snow White a live-action makeover. Unlike Mirror Mirror or Snow White and the Huntsman, this interpretation won’t center directly on the fairest of them all. Rather, it’ll focus on Snow White’s sister, Red Rose.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Red Rose will follow the titular heroine as she travels with the seven dwarfs to save her sister, who has been cursed by a poison apple. The screenplay was written by Justin Merz and reworked by Evan Daugherty, who coincidentally worked on Snow White and the Huntsman. Tara Farney will act as executive producer with Tripp Vinson producing through Vinson Film. Adam Rodin will also act as a producer along with Merz.
In addition to Red Rose, Disney has a slew of other live-action remakes on the horizon, including Dumbo, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid, just to name a few. Instead of remaking all of their good movies, however, maybe Disney should take another crack at one of their lesser features, such as The Black Cauldron.
