Doctor Strange begins filming, Marvel confirms cast

Marvel has announced filming has begun on Doctor Strange.

The announcement on Marvel.com reveals a brief synopsis, “Doctor Strange follows the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.”

Sherlock‘s Benedict Cumberbatch will play the medically trained sorcerer, Stephan Strange.

Chiwetel Ejiofor (12 Years a Slave) is on board to play Strange’s adversary, Baron Mordo. Tilda Swinton, Rachel McAdams and Michael Stuhlbarg have also been cast.

Marvel’s announcement also confirms NBC Hannibal‘s Mads Mikkelsen has joined the film, but his role is still unknown.

Doctor Strange — the second of Marvel’s “Phase Three” movies — is currently set for a Nov. 4 2016 release.
