Dumbledore will be a “main player” in Fantastic Beasts sequels

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has four more films in the franchise lined up, however, it’s now emerged that our hero, Newt Scamander, may not be a permanent fixture for them, with the likes of Albus Dumbledore set to play a bigger role.

Producer David Heyman has revealed that Eddie Redmayne’s character Newt is likely to be sidelined for the sequels.

Heyman told Cinema Blend:

“I don’t think [Newt will be at] the heart of all of them. I think he’ll be part – so will Tina, Queenie and Jacob – will be part of the next one.

He then added that Dumbledore amongst others will take over the screen time:

“I’ve heard that Dumbledore has been confirmed, too. And Credence and Grindelwald. I think they will be the main players.”

“Dumbledore.. and Credence and Grindelwald.. has been confirmed. They will be the main players.”

Casting is currently in progress for the young Dumbledore, with Johnny Depp announced to play Grindelwald.
