Ed Zwick in line for Jack Reacher 2

A sequel to 2012’s Jack Reacher is in development with Tom Cruise returning. However it’s now looking like Cruise’s frequent collaborator Christopher McQuarrie won’t be back for the new film, with Deadline reporting that Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz are in talks to sign on behind the camera instead.

Zwick is best known for directing The Last Samurai which also starred Cruise and it’s been reported that Jack Reacher 2 will adapt 2013’s Never Go Back, the eighteenth Reacher novel.

The original Jack Reacher grossed $218 million worldwide and so Paramount and Cruise who is set to produce as well as star, will be looking to reach similar figures at the box office with the sequel.
