Elizabeth Banks to Direct Pitch Perfect 3

Elizabeth Banks made her directorial debut this year with Pitch Perfect 2 (her segment of Movie 43 doesn’t count). The sequel to the 2012 breakout success went on to become the highest-grossing live-action comedy of the summer, making over $180 million at the domestic box office. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Banks will be returning to direct Pitch Perfect 3.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Banks “will be reunite with returning stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, and Rebel Wilson in Universal’s third installment of its female-central musical comedy franchise.” In the previous two films, Banks also notably played Gail Abernathy-McKadden, an A Cappella commentator. Screenwriter Kay Cannon will also be back to pen the script.
