Emma Stone is in talks to play the evil London heiress, Cruella de Vil, in Disney’s upcoming film, Cruella.
THR reports that Kelly Marcel is scripting Disney’s live-action adaptation. A director has not yet been attached to the project, while Andrew Gunn is producing, and Jessica Virtue and Kristin Burr are overseeing for Disney. Filming is set to begin this year.
You may remember Cruella de Vil — who’s eager to capture, skin and wear the famous pups —from the 1961 animated film, 101 Dalmatians, which was adapted from Dodie Smith’s classic novel. Stone has quite the shoes to fill in the origin story, as veteran actress Glenn Close brought the villainess to life in the 1996 live-action adaptation, and again in the sequel, 102 Dalmatians.
