Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is getting a TV remake
Yes, yes, I know. Lethal Weapon, Limitless, Rush Hour, the list of Movie to TV remakes is getting long and increasingly poor. Next on the list is Michel Gondry’s classic romantic drama, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
There is some hope, however, not every Movie to TV adaption is awful, Fargo and Bates Motel have both been popular and critically acclaimed series in their own right. With the quality of some of the names attached to this announcement, it may not be the craziest idea in the world.
Steve Golin, producer of the original film is the one who signed off on the idea, according to reports from The Hollywood Reporter, Golin is teaming up with Anonymous Content and Richard Brown the Executive Producer of True Detective. Anonymous Content are on a roll at the moment, Spotlight, The Revenant, Mr. Robot and The Knick are just some of their most recent hits.
The original film stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet, and follows the two as they decide to get their memories of one another erased after their relationship ends badly. The film received an Academy Award for Best Screenplay. While the TV remake is still in its early stages, rumour is Zev Borow will be signed on to write the script.
