Star Trek and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 producer/writer Roberto Orci has caused controversy with comments that are deemed “racist” by many.
Orci, a Mexican-born filmmaker was speaking at Variety’s Inclusion Summit, when he likened Mr. Spock to an illegal alien, referring to the character as “Mr. Spic”.

“I always thought of Mr. Spock as a Latino, he’s an alien, an immigrant. Just between us, and only I can say this, I personally used to call him Mr. Spic.”
“I said that not as a way to denigrate him, but as a way to get in touch with what it’s like for an alien to come into what looks like a great world.”
“He comes from another land. He’s half-human, I’m half-Mexican. He has this cultural baggage that he brings in while trying to fit in as much as he can.” he said.
“He’s an alien, an immigrant. I personally used to call him Mr. Spic.”
Orci recognised his comments afterwards in a sarcastic twitter post:

However, may felt offended by his remarks:
The #Racist comments made by #RobertoOrci regarding #Spock show he has never understood the character he is writing. Gene would be disgusted
