Marvel has released the debut poster for the upcoming Black Panther movie and revealed that its first teaser trailer will land tonight.
The poster shows the titular superhero, played by Chadwick Boseman, in what seems to be animated form:

The poster has gone down badly with fans, who think it looks “poorly photoshopped”, “fan-made” and “fake”. See a selection of their tweets below:
I'm really excited about the movie but this poster looks like a really poorly Photoshopped photo! :(

I'm looking forward to the movie. But what's been going on with your posters lately #Marvel !? It looks terrible. #BlackPantherMovie

Seriously Marvel. You really need to hire some decent designers for your posters. This looks like bad fanart.

“Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. But when a powerful old enemy reappears, T’Challa’s mettle as king—and Black Panther—is tested when he is drawn into a formidable conflict that puts the fate of Wakanda and the entire world at risk. Faced with treachery and danger, the young king must rally his allies and release the full power of Black Panther to defeat his foes and secure the safety of his people and their way of life.”
Directed by Creed‘s Ryan Coogler, Black Panther hits theaters on February 16, 2018.
