Many fans were hoping that Kevin Smith would take over directing duties from Ben Affleck for his upcoming Batman movie, however Smith has ruled himself out and even suggested a different director to take the helm.
Since Affleck stepped down from directing The Batman, many have called for Smith to replace him. Especially since the duo have history, working on numerous projects together, such as Chasing Amy and Mallrats. Fans took to twitter to express their desire in seeing Smith reunite with Affleck for the caped crusader’s solo outing, even forming a petition:
Sign the petition to see @ThatKevinSmith direct #TheBatman film! https://t.co/KuryyQqzVF #Batman #KevinSmith @RalphGarman @JayMewes

So, if Ben Affleck won't direct the next BATMAN movie, isn't KEVIN SMITH available?

Kevin Smith is totally the right choice to direct The Batman. Seems like going the fan-writer-director fan route is best a la Joss Whedon.

But much to the disappointment of many, Smith gave three reasons why he won’t be directing the film:
I'm flattered. But 3 things make me directing Batman impossible: 1) Haven't spoken to Ben in years. 2) I made @YogaHosers, 3) Common sense. https://t.co/oTIhA3FtjO

And he even suggested a different director who he thinks would be suited:
Recording #FatManOnBatman w/ @marcbernardin! Talking about who should direct #TheBatman now that Ben is stepping back. How about @Lexialex? pic.twitter.com/PkxhY8mvQk

Lexi Alexander is a German filmmaker, who has previously directed superhero productions, with TV shows Arrow and Supergirl. However, it seems more likely that Warner Bros. will choose a bigger name. Who would you like to see take the director’s chair?
