Father of the Bride 3 may have cast reunion

The wedding party may be getting back together for a third Father of the Bride film.

George Newbern, who played Bryan MacKenzie in the 1991 film and its 1995 sequel, told US Weekly that director Charles Shyer has written a script and the original cast may be returning.

“I don’t know how far it got but I’m sure most of the cast would be into it if the script was right,” said Newbern. “So maybe that’s just a question of that happening.

“From what I heard it was pretty good and different and newsworthy. They need to shoot a third one. We need to do a third one. That would be great.”

Newbern also discussed what Bryan might be up to in this long-awaited sequel.

“I think Bryan MacKenzie would probably be a grandfather now,” he went on. “They had a kid so he’s probably got a grandkid at this point, I think. Or at least close to it. Or his daughter would be getting married.”

It’s funny to think that Bryan had just become a father when we last saw him in Father of the Bride Part II. Now he could theoretically be a grandparent in this sequel. It would also make Steve Martin’s George and Diane Keaton’s Nina great-grandparents. George and Nina also a baby girl in Part II that they named Megan. Could she be getting married in Part II?

Of course it’s still unclear if Martin or Keaton will definitely be back for the film. So stay tuned for more updates.
