First footage from Jumanji reveals a new title
First footage from the new Jumanji movie has revealed a new title for the reboot of the 1995 original.
Dwayne Johnson revealed its first look at Sony’s CinemaCon panel on Monday night, unveiling a new title in the process. The film will now go by the name of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The trailer is thought to have gone down well at the presentation and here’s a breakdown of the footage from The Hollywood Reporter:
The footage begins with four high schoolers in detention. Their teacher orders them to clean out the basement of the school, and they find an old video game console, which features the game Jumanji. You pick a character, and as the teens learn you are that person in the game … which transports you to a jungle.
One rather nerdy boy is surprised (and rather pleased) to see he’s got the muscles of The Rock. The popular girl in school is horrified to learn she’s got the body of Jack Black. So Black is playing a teenage girl and the Rock is playing a nerd.
The new plot details explain why Karen Gillan’s character was pictured in such a skimpy outfit, which outraged many at the time.
Johnson had already announced that the trailer would debut at the CinemaCon:
We can expect a public trailer release soon, so far all we have are set pics from the shoot:
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle hits theaters on December 22nd.
