First Look at Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider reboot

First images of Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider reboot have been revealed. It’s been almost 14 years since Angelina Jolie last graced the big screen as Lara Croft, but now Vikander is set to replace her in the upcoming remake.

Vikander, who won an Academy award for The Danish Girl, beat Star Wars‘ Daisy Ridley to the role, and she can now be seen in action on set, via these images on Twitter:

Recently it was announced that the movie will follow the 1996 video game’s origin story, with producer Graham King confirming the news:

“This is kind of what we call a ‘back to the roots story’. This is a young Lara Croft in search to see if her father is dead or alive, so it has a very emotional part to it, and I think that’s what Alicia found so interesting about it.” King told Hey U Guys.

Vikander stars alongside Dominic West, with Norwegian director Roar Uthaug at the helm. Tomb Raider will arrive in March 2018.
