Forest Whitaker joins Black Panther
Apart from Marvel’s Avengers, Black Panther‘s cast is looking to be one of the biggest and the best so far in the Marvel universe, especially with the emphasis on the predominantly black actors and actresses.
Now Hollywood veteran Forest Whittaker has been added to the cast, other recent additions include; Daniel Kaluuya (Sicario) and Florence Kasumba (Captain America: Civil War).
Black Panther’s cast now includes a wealth of recognisable names; Chadwick Boseman is back for the title role of course, but he is now accompanied by Michael B. Jordan (Creed), Lupita Nyong’o (Star Wars: The Force Awakens), Danai Gurira (The Walking Dead), Daniel Kaluuya, Forest Whitaker and Andy Serkis (The Lord of the Rings). There are bags of potential in this cast, and young director Ryan Coogler is working with what seems to be his best team yet.
Boseman and Serkis impressed in their previous MCU appearances, to jog your memory, Serkis played Klaw in Avengers: Age of Ultron and is a key arch nemesis in the Black Panther comics.
Marvel has yet to release an official synopsis for the picture but it’s definitely taking place after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Lupita Nyong’o elaborated upon the basic story back at San Diego Comic-Con, “The story is that the Black Panther’s leadership is really threatened by two foes who come together, and so Black Panther gets the help of the C.I.A. and the Dora Milaje to try and defeat the enemy.”
Black Panther will grace cinemas in February 2018.
