Former Bond girl explains why Daniel Craig won’t return

Former Bond girl Caterina Murino has explained why Daniel Craig won’t be returning as 007.

Murino, who played Solange in 2006’s Casino Royale, told the Sunday People that there was too much pressure on Craig to be the ‘perfect’ Bond:

‘It’s hugely stressful being Bond. There’s a lot of money involved, so that also brought more tension – and a lot of that tension was on Daniel. It’s not easy to go back time and time again. It can be tiring to keep trying to find new things in the same role.’

Murino and Craig in his first outing as Bond.

She also went onto say that Craig simply needed a break:

‘You study for the role, then there’s six months of shooting. It’s a very tiring movie. And Daniel is not just an actor, he’s a human being too. After a while those actors don’t really think too much about the money.’

‘I can understand why Daniel would not want to return. Bringing back the same role again can be complicated.’

Craig has reportedly turned down £68m to return as Bond and speculation about who will replace him is intensifying with Tom Hiddleston currently the favourite and Murino thinks he’d be a great choice:

‘I’m a huge fan of Tom’s work. I believe Barbara [Broccoli – Bond Producer] will pick someone like that who has a theatre background.’

So another vote for Hiddleston but who would you like to see take on the iconic role?
