Fox won’t be uniting with Disney anytime soon

If only for a brief moment, it appeared that the X-Men and Fantastic Four might have a shot at teaming up with the Avengers. Disney’s accusation of 20th Century Fox’s films and other properties won’t be happening anytime soon, however.

It was recently reported that the two entertainment giants were in negotiations with Disney expressing interest in buying Fox’s assets. According to The Playlist, those talks are already over. The empires were unable to reach a mutual decision. This means Deadpool and Wolverine wouldn’t be joining the MCU after all.

This isn’t all that surprising, as Fox and Disney have been in competition for a while. Fox most notably lost the Star Wars franchise to Disney. At least Fox still has Avatar, which remains the highest-grossing movie of all time. Of course the House Mouse did recently open an Avatar theme park in Disney World.

It’s safe to say that we’re in the midst of a franchise war, meaning the film Demolition Man was more accurate in its prediction of the future than we thought.
