Gal Gadot was pregnant while shooting Wonder Woman

Last November, we got the exclusive story that Wonder Woman was undergoing reshoots, and now a few months on with the film not far from release, it’s been revealed that Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot, was pregnant during the said reshoots.

Exclusive: Wonder Woman heading back for reshoots

Gadot told Entertainment Weekly that she was five months pregnant with her second child when she took part in the reshoots, and she even made light of her appearance, admitting that she “looked very funny”:

“On close-up I looked very much like Wonder Woman. On wide shots I looked very funny, like Wonder Woman pregnant with Kermit the Frog.” she said.

Director Patty Jenkins praised the 31 year old actress for her professionalism, revealing that she even took part in a “battle scene”:

“She’s pregnant during part of the movie, in a suit out in a field in the freezing cold in others. There are so many things we asked her to do: Now do it on one foot. Now shout while you’re doing it. Now it’s raining in the freezing cold and you’ve lost your voice, go. Everyday it was a hilarious gauntlet and she would do it.”

Now, at least, we will be able to tell her [new] daughter Maya that she’s in her mom’s stomach right then, in the middle of that battle scene,” said Jenkins.

EW also reports that in order to conceal her bump, “costumers cut an ample triangle from the front of her suit, replacing it with a bright green cloth that would allow the special effects department to alter her figure in post-production.”

While producer Chuck Roven also had high praise for Gadot, applauding her dedication:

“Part of what we were doing was augmenting some of the final action piece. She couldn’t do a huge amount of physical activity but she was being aggressive. She still had to be fierce. That was special. I’ve been doing this for awhile but I’ve never that had that experience before.” he said.

And we can see Gadot in action when Wonder Woman hits theaters on June 2nd.
