There’s been much speculation as of late about Legendary and Warner Bros. potentially developing a Godzilla vs. King Kong movie. According to IGN, the kings of monsters will indeed duke it out in a crossover movie within a shared cinematic universe.

“All-powerful monsters become towering heroes for a new generation, revealing a mythology that brings together Godzilla and Legendary’s King Kong in an ecosystem of other giant super-species, both classic and new,” says a press release from the companies. “Monarch, the human organization that uncovered Godzilla in the 2014 film, will expand their mission across multiple releases.”

Godzilla vs. Kong is currently set to come out in 2020. Building up to its release, we’ll be getting Kong: Skull Island in 2017 and Godzilla 2 in 2018.

Since Legendary also owns the rights to several monsters from Toho’s Godzilla franchise, there’s a good chance we’ll be seeing Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah, and other big names in the future. Now all we need is for Legendary to get back on board with Pacific Rim 2 so some Jaegers can join the fun.
