Has the new X-Men movie found its director?
The next film in the X-Men franchise may have just found its director, as series writer and producer Simon Kinberg is reportedly in talks to take over the helm. According to Collider, Kinberg is set to make his directorial debut, having already penned the script for the movie. My Entertainment World reports that the film will go by the title of X-Men: Supernova and will begin shooting in Montreal on June 15, 2017.
The outlet also released a synopsis, revealing returns for James McAvoy and Sophie Turner’s characters. McAvoy in fact, recently posted a photo on Instagram of himself with Kinberg accompanied by the caption “I can’t wait for the summer”, which is surely hinting at their return to the franchise later this year:
Sophie Turner, who played Jean Grey in Apocalypse, also recently confirmed her involvement in the project, telling HeyUGuys:
“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts,” she said.
All X-Men: Supernova needs now is official confirmation from Fox and a release date.
