Is Bride of Frankenstein still connected to the Dark Universe?
The Dark Universe got off to a rocky start earlier this year with The Mummy. Flickreel even published on article on how Universal can get this franchise on track. It looked like Bride of Frankenstein would be Universal’s next shot at proving to us that the Dark Universe is a good idea. However, director Bill Condon is now suggesting that Bride of Frankenstein will be separate from the Dark Universe.
Speaking to Collider about his upcoming film, Condon stated, “I will tell you this – what I’m doing is 100% making a really good monster movie. It has nothing to do with anything else. Nothing. Zero.”
So does that mean Condon’s remake of the 1935 classic isn’t connected to the Dark Universe? Will it be a standalone film like WB’s upcoming Joker movie? If Bride of Frankenstein isn’t the next film in the Dark Universe, what is? Is there even going to be a Dark Universe? Should there be a Dark Universe?
All that can be said for sure is that Bride of Frankenstein hits theaters on February 14, 2019 with Javier Bardem as Frankenstein’s monster.
