Is Memento Seriously Getting a Remake?
Do you want to see a remake of Memento? Of course you don’t, but it looks like we’re getting one anyway.
The Hollywood Reporter says that AMBI Pictures will be producing and financing a remake of the 2000 thriller. The original film starred Guy Pearce as a man suffering from memory loss, trying to hunt down his wife’s killer. Pearce’s character kept track of his memories through notes, tattoos, and Polaroid photographs. Remember, this film came out several years before iPhones existed.
Memento notably put master director Christopher Nolan on the map, earning him his first Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay. It appears Nolan won’t be involved in this remake and we can’t blame him. Seeing how Memento is already perfect and only 15 years old, there’s no need to update it. What’s next? Remakes of Inception and Interstellar?
