J.J. Abrams says Star Wars will have gay characters
Director J.J. Abrams has revealed that he expects the Star Wars franchise to start adding openly gay characters to the cast.
Abrams spoke at Bad Robot HQ “When I talk about inclusivity it’s not excluding gay characters. It’s about inclusivity. So of course. To me, the fun of Star Wars is the glory of possibility,” Abrams added. “So it seems insanely narrow-minded and counterintuitive to say that there wouldn’t be a homosexual character in that world.”
Abrams took a modern approach with The Force Awakens as he added the franchise’s first female Jedi and a black lead. Abrams’ decisions paid off as the film broke box office records and received critical acclaim.
