This past July, Daniel Fleetwood was diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Given only two months to live, Daniel’s final wish was to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Thus, the #ForceforDaniel Twitter campaign was launched.

John Boyega, who will be playing Finn, and Mark Hamill, who will of course be reprising his role as Luke Skywalker, helped to attract J.J. Abrams to the campaign. Abrams subsequently contacted Daniel and screened an unedited version of The Force Awakens in his house.
