J.K. Simmons couldn’t have been more perfectly cast as J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy. The Oscar-winning actor did such a great job at portraying the the Daily Bugle’s fast-talking, hotheaded editor-in-chief that Mark Webb didn’t even bother recasting him in his Amazing Spider-Man. Since fans can’t accept another actor in the role, many are petitioning for Simmons to reprise his role in the new Spider-Man Marvel/Sony reboot.

Simmons recently spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the petition, noting that it probably won’t have a huge impact. “That petition does not come from anybody that is in a position to actually do anything about it,” he said. Simmons did express interest in returning, however, added that he would “never close the door on anything.”

For our money, the studios can recast Spider-Man as many times as they want, but Simmons will forever be the best J. Jonah Jameson.
