The late Heath Ledger won an Oscar for his iconic portrayal as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Now it’s being rumored that his Brokeback Mountain co-star, Jake Gyllenhaal, might replace Ben Affleck as Batman.

I’m Batman!

Director Matthew Reeves reportedly doesn’t want Affleck anymore for his standalone Batman movie. According to John Campea of Collider, Gyllenhaal is a potential contender to fill Affleck’s shoes. Since there’s almost a ten year age difference between these two actors, it’s unlikely that Gyllenhaal would be Bruce Wayne. If we had to speculate, he might play Dick Grayson or Terry McGinnis, who have both taken on Batman’s role over the years.

Although Affleck’s performance has been well received, the same couldn’t be said about Batman v Superman. While the critical reception for Justice League has been a little better, it’s still far from ideal. For more on DC’s latest film, read our review here.
