While the late David Bowie will always be remembered best as a musical genius, he also had an impressive career in film. With his recent passing, we’ll sadly never see him in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

On Facebook, director James Gunn expressed his desire to see Bowie make a cameo in the anticipated sequel.

“Just a very short while ago, [Marvel Studios’] Kevin Fiege and I were talking about a cameo role in Guardians Vol. 2, and he brought up Bowie’s name,” Gunn wrote. “I told him nothing in the world would make me happier, but I heard from common friends that he wasn’t doing well.”

Bowie’s Moonage Daydream was notably played in the original Guardians of the Galaxy. Gunn recently cut a scene from Guardians Vol. 2 featuring another Bowie song, but now he’s determined to get it back in there.
