James McAvoy seems to have revealed that he will be shooting the next X-Men movie in the summer.

McAvoy, who plays Professor Charles Xavier, posted an image on Instagram of himself with X-Men writer and producer Simon Kinberg. Accompanying the photo is the caption “I can’t wait for the summer” which is surely hinting at their return to the franchise later this year:

It’s unclear however which project McAvoy is referring to, as there are rumors of two X-Men films in the pipeline, reportedly titled Supernova and New Mutants.

Supernova seems more likely as according to My Entertainment World, the film will begin shooting in Montreal on June 15, 2017. And the site also released a synopsis which suggests a return for McAvoy’s character:

Gathered together by Professor Charles Xavier to protect a world that fears and hates them, the X-Men had fought many battles, been on adventures that spanned galaxies, grappled enemies of limitless might, but none of this could prepare them for the most shocking struggle they would ever face. One of their own members, Jean Grey, has gained power beyond all comprehension, and that power has corrupted her absolutely! Now they must decide if the life of the woman they cherish is worth the existence of the entire universe!

Sophie Turner, who played Jean Grey in Apocalypse, is also featured in the synopsis and she too recently confirmed her involvement in an upcoming X-Men project, telling HeyUGuys:

“We’re about to start shooting the next X-Men, we’ve just finished shooting Season 7 of [Game of] Thrones, and I’ve got a couple of movies to do before X-Men starts,” she said.

We’re still awaiting official confirmation from Fox though. While Josh Boone has also promised “some familiar faces” in spin-off New Mutants, so don’t rule McAvoy out of that one either.
