Premier League’s record-breaking striker Jamie Vardy has reportedly caught the eye of Hollywood filmmakers after his incredible rise.

The Leicester City forward scored for the 11th Premier League game in succession on Saturday – beating the previous record held by Ruud van Nistelrooy. It continued a remarkable story for the 28-year-old, who just five years ago was playing non-league football for Stocksbridge Park Steels and yet is now making his mark in England’s top league as well as for the national team.

The Sun reports that Adrian Butchart, who wrote the 2005 football film Goal!, is set to hold meetings regarding a possible Vardy movie this week.

He said: “It’s the kind of story that if we made it up, people wouldn’t believe it. His achievements are incredible and to break the Premier League record with such a sublime goal against the biggest club in football pushed him to the top of our agenda. It’s amazing to think he was playing non league football and making medical splints for a living until so recently before breaking the record. It is the kind of role actors dream of.”

The hollywood names linked with playing the role of Jamie Vardy range from the likes of Robert Pattinson, Andrew Garfield and Zac Efron. What next… Rickie Lambert: The Movie?
