Jared Leto says he was “tricked” into Suicide Squad

Jared Leto feels like he was “tricked” into taking on the Joker role in Warner Bros.’ Suicide Squad and also had some negative things to say about the studio.

Leto made the comments during a Q&A session at Camp Mars—an event he promoted on both Instagram and Twitter. And according to a Jared Leto Tumblr fansite report from Camp Mars, Leto is said to have felt “sort of tricked into being a part of something that had been pitched to him very differently.”

The report also states:

“He was very honest about the film this weekend; his disappointment in what he’s learned of the theatrical cut (he’s still not seen the film); thinking it would’ve been more artistic than what it became; feeling overwhelmed by the hate regarding the look and choices…”

Leto also spoke of the terms he had to agree to with Warner Bros. when signing up to the role, which state that he cannot partake in dangerous activities, such as his hobby of rock climbing. In response to this he openly swore at them with the words “F*ck ’em”, which he says in the video below:

It was revealed that during production, Leto prepared for his role in quite bizarre fashion. As he gave his fellow cast members several horrific gifts, including a dead pig, used condoms and anal beads. He even met with “psychopaths and people who had committed horrendous crimes.” to inhabit the role of The Joker. But the method acting hasn’t seemed to pay off for Leto as he has been panned by critics for his performance.

According to Leto, a lot of Joker footage was cut from the final product. As he claimed there was enough footage to make a whole Joker movie, but the theatrical cut continues to divide opinion.
