It’s fair to say that Suicide Squad hasn’t gone down well amongst critics, with Jared Leto’s Joker receiving much of the stick.
Although we actually rather liked it, most critics have slammed DC’s latest film; with its average score on Rotten Tomatoes now sitting at just 33%. Many of those critics have taken to twitter to, in particular, express their disappointment in Leto’s portrayal of The Joker:

It was revealed that during production, Leto prepared for his role in quite bizarre fashion. As he gave his fellow cast members several horrific gifts, including a dead pig, used condoms and anal beads. He even met with “psychopaths and people who had committed horrendous crimes.” to inhabit the role of The Joker. Well many critics were expecting much more from the actor after the extreme lengths he went to, as well as more screen-time:

Earlier, director David Ayer responded to the negative reviews:
Zapata quote is my way of saying I love the movie and believe in it. Made it for the fans. Best experience of my life. ❤️

But fans can make their own minds up on the film and Leto’s performance when Suicide Squad hits theaters on Friday.
