Jessica Chastain taunts James McAvoy on social media as she teases X-Men: Dark Phoenix role
In a case of a “worst kept secret” news has reached the film world today that the cast of X-Men: Dark Phoenix has its villain – and it’s exactly who we thought: Jessica Chastain.
Oscar Nominee Chastain has officially stated on social media that she is indeed onboard the latest installment of the franchise and she is all set to make co-star James McAvoy “cry so hard”.
While 20th Century Fox hasn’t officially announced the Zero Dark Thirty and Miss Sloane star as part of the cast, it’s thought that that won’t be too far away. If rumours are to be believed, Chastain will be playing Princess-Majestrix Lilandra Neramani who is the “empress of the Shi’ar alien empire” in the comic-books.
Here’s what Chastain had to say to McAvoy, and by extension the X-Men, below:
Frequent X-Men and Marvel producer and writer Simon Kinberg is making his directorial debut on the film, which sees Chastain join McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Tye Sheridan, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Alexandra Shipp and Sophie Turner (as Jean Grey/Dark Phoenix) for the film which is shooting in Montreal. Olivia Munn, who played Psylocke in X-Men: Apocalypse, is rumoured to be returning also.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is set for release on November 2nd, 2018
