Jimmy Kimmel to host 2017 Academy Awards
American late-night talk show Jimmy Kimmel has been chosen as the host of the 89th Annual Academy Awards which will be televised worldwide on Sunday, February 26th, 2017. Variety reports that Kimmel was chosen by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for the ceremony, which airs on ABC Television Network.
Many other names were rumoured to be on the list to host but Kimmel will replace last year’s host Chris Rock for his debut as host. Best known as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Kimmel has lent his voice to films such as The Smurfs 2 and upcoming animation The Boss Baby, as well as feature in Ted 2 and Pitch Perfect 2.
Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd are producing the show which takes place at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood. In addition to ABC, the show will be broadcast in over 225 countries.
