Joel McHale to Play Chevy Chase in National Lampoon Biopick

Joel McHale and Chevy Chase previously co-starred on the cult comedy series, Community. In an ironic turn, McHale is now in talks play a younger version of Chase in A Futile and Stupid Gesture, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Will Forte has already been cast in this Netflix biopic as Doug Kenney, the co-founder of National Lampoon who committed suicide at age 33. Having worked together on Caddyshack, Chase and the late Kenney were good friends. Domhnall Gleeson has additionally been cast in the film as Henry Beard, who founded National Lampoon with Kenney and Robert Hoffman.

David Wain will direct A Futile and Stupid Gesture with a script written by John Aboud and Michael Colton.
