John Carter to return with more films?

Well, there’s something we thought we would never hear: the possibility of more John Carter films. 2012’s movie was a critical and, more importantly, commercial flop, resulting in anything that had a big budget that was tipped for failure being deemed as ‘this year’s John Carter‘. However, the film rights have just reverted back to Edgar Rice Burroughs, Inc., the estate of the late author of John Carter of Mars, and they are looking for someone to get the proto-superhero – whose influence touched the likes of Superman and Star Wars – back on the big screen. ‘We will be seeking a new partner to help develop new adventures on film as chronicled in the eleven Mars novels Burroughs wrote,’ president James Sullos has explained. We’re wondering if this means the next John Carter will, in fact, be a reboot, instead of a continuation of the Andrew Stanton-directed, Taylor Kitsch-starring movie. Either way, we’re excited to return to Barsoom.
