Just recently Eric Heisserer was announced to write the screenplay for The Sandman but he’ll now have to write it without any help from Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the hollywood star, who was set to direct and play the leading role, has exited the project.
In a Facebook post, Gordon-Levitt blamed Warner Bros. decision to move its catalog of Vertigo comics to its subsidiary New Line Cinema. He revealed how he “came to realize” that his ideas didn’t line up with New Line’s and so departed from the film.
The Sandman follows the story of Morpheus—the Lord of Dreams and blends in elements of fantasy, mythology, and horror.
