Jurassic World 2 will be “more suspenseful and scary” than the original

Jurassic World 2 will be “more suspenseful and scary” than the original, according to Colin Trevorrow. Trevorrow won’t actually be directing the movie though – that responsibility will lie with horror director Juan Antonio Bayona – as he is otherwise engaged with Star Wars: Episode IX. Trevorrow made those comment in an interview with Jurassic Outpost, going on to say, “I knew I wanted Bayona to direct it long before anyone ever heard that was a possibility, so the whole thing was just built around his skill set.”

Trevorrow still has a big hand in the film however, having written the script with Derek Connolly, and serving as producer. On the story itself he said, “I’m not that interested in militarized dinosaurs, at least not in practice,” noting that it’s best served “as the pipe dream of a lunatic” rather than a major focus of the film.

Animatronics took a backseat to CGI in Jurassic World due to “the physicality of the Indominus,” as well as its “very fast and fluid” movements. However this time around they have written more possibilities for animatronics into the script. Which is probably a good thing, as according to Trevorrow, Bayona “is all about going practical whenever possible.”

June 22, 2018 is when Jurassic World 2 is scheduled to hit theatres. With both Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard returning. The film will represent the second installment in a new trilogy.
