Producer says Justice League will be “lighter”; full cast revealed
As 2016 draws to a close, many film writers and fans are preparing their best and worst of the year lists and one film that could feature in many of them is Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Critics reviews were decidedly mixed while fans leapt to its defence and wait with anticipation for the release of next year’s Justice League and this week some new information on the film has been revealed.
Firstly producer Charles Roven has been speaking about the film and the lessons learned from Dawn of Justice and confirmed that the new film will be a little different, telling The Hollywood Reporter: “We knew we were making a very serious, compelling, driving film with ‘Batman v. Superman.’ Now the bell has been rung and the whole tone of the movie is lighter.”
Roven, who was also a producer of Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, has taken a step back from his day-to-day producing for all the DC films, adding that it was a very tough schedule to be able to be involved in all of them, saying:
“The studio made me the producer of all the DC movies, and they announced eight. When we finished the [timetable], we looked at each other and said, ‘This is incredibly ambitious, but we haven’t taken into consideration if something goes wrong.’ We also hadn’t decided where we were going to shoot those movies… As difficult as it was for me to commute from Toronto to London to Italy, it became really clear I couldn’t do the job that I do as a producer. I’m for sure producing the sequels of the movies that I have made.”
In addition to Roven speaking about the film, the official cast list for Justice League has been revealed with both Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor) and Connie Nielsen (Queen Hippolyta) confirmed for the film. The full is as follows (via Collider):
Ben Affleck (Batman), Henry Cavill (Superman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jason Momoa (Aquaman), Ray Fisher (Cyborg), Ezra Miller (The Flash), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Jeremy Irons (Alfred), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon) and Willem Dafoe (Nuidis Vulko). In addition, Amber Heard (Mera), Kiersey Clemmons (Iris West) and Ciaran Hinds (Steppenwolf) are expected to appear despite not being on the list.
Justice League opens on November 17th, 2017.
