Karl Urban may return for Judge Dredd TV show

Although 2012’s Dredd was a hit with critics and has gained a cult following, the film failed to find an audience during its theatrical run. While this likely killed any hope of a cinematic sequel, the franchise will live on as a TV series entitled Judge Dredd: Mega City One.

Reports indicate that Karl Urban might reprise his role as Dredd in the upcoming show. Talking to ScreenGreek, producer Jason Kingsley mentioned, “We have been in discussions with Karl about his possible involvement in Judge Dredd: Mega-City One for some time.

“These conversations continue but we’re keen, he’s keen – it’s just a case of us making sure this show is everything we want it to be. This needs to be done right – the fans deserve it.”

“Our team is working hard on scripts for the first season, creating engaging multi-thread storylines, one of which will be Dredd’s but others which take us into the wider world of Mega-City One.”

Outside of Dredd, Urban is best known for playing Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the Star Trek reboot franchise. If he decides not to return as everyone’s favorite judge, jury, and executioner, we wonder if the producers will give Sylvester Stallone a call.
