Since Kevin Smith is one of the biggest comic book fans in Hollywood, people are always eager to hear his opinion when a new superhero adaptation hits the silver screen. If you haven’t seen his hilarious critique of Superman Returns before, be sure to check it out here.

According to The Guardian, Smith wasn’t a huge fan of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice either, even though the film starred his buddy Ben Affleck.

“[I felt like] the movie … didn’t really have a heart,” Smith said on his Hollywood Babble-On podcast. “It was certainly [expletive] humorless, there was nothing funny going on in that world whatsoever.”

Smith went on to discuss why Zach Snyder probably wasn’t the right man to bring the Man of Steel and Dark Knight together.

“It’s almost like Zack Snyder didn’t read a bunch of comics, he read one comic once, and it was Dark Knight Returns, and his favorite part was the last part where Batman and Superman fight,” Smith said.

As much as Smith disliked the blockbuster, he did say that Affleck delivered “the best cinematic presentation of Batman fighting you’ve ever seen in a movie.”

Kevin Smith was once attached to write the screenplay for Superman Lives, which eventually became Superman Returns. He is currently set to direct an episode of The Flash, which is part of DC’s vastly superior television universe.
