It might be the highest-grossing horror movie of all time, but Kingsman: The Golden Circle topped the North American box office this past weekend.

According to Box Office Mojo, the super spy sequel lassoed up an estimated $39 million, about $3 million more than its predecessor’s debut. While It dropped to #2, the film still had an impressive third weekend, making an estimated $30 million. This brings its total to $266.3 million, surpassing The Exorcist domestically.

Meanwhile, The Lego Ninjago Movie performed below expectations, grossing only about $21.2 million. Still, between It and Kingsman, this could become a record high for the month of September, more than compensating for August’s lackluster box office performance. Flickreel actually published on article on why September is the New Summer, which you can read here.
