Kyle MacLachlan will return to Twin Peaks

Good news, Twin Peaks fans: Kyle MacLachlan will be reprising his role as Special Agent Dale Cooper for the third season of Twin Peaks, due to air in 2016. Known for his love of coffee and pie, Cooper was one of the most memorable characters in the show – and is now the first of the original cast to be officially announced as returning for round three. The news came from director David Lynch, who helmed the original seasons and will also be taking up the reigns on the 25-years-later continuation, on his Twitter page:

This photo sees MacLachlan, who also starred in Lynch’s classic Blue Velvet, in proper Cooper costume, complete with a cup of joe in hand. (Cooper’s coffee fixation, interestingly, stems from Lynch’s own obsession with the drink.) With an air date due to be fixed, Twin Peaks Season Three – set in the present day – is sure to make TV history.
