Yesterday, Disney announced a live-action remake of the children’s classic animated film The Lion King. Not everyone is feeling the love though.
Jon Favreau announced that he’ll be helming the project on Twitter:
Excited for my next project ??

Favreau of course recently had success with another Disney classic, as his live-action re-imagining of The Jungle Book performed extremely well at the box office.
Although The Jungle Book generally received a positive response from fans of the original, Lion King lovers are not happy to hear the latest remake in the works:

They are remaking The Lion King??
Just don't.
There's no possible way they can do a better job.
Don't destroy my childhood.

If Disney had made the new Jungle Book’s tagline “if enough of you watch this we’re rebooting Lion King,” it would have grossed $0 worldwide

Mixed feelings. I'm still mad that Lion King 2 exists, so if they mess this up I will be PISSED. There can only be one LK

Up until Frozen, The Lion King was Disney’s highest-grossing animated feature ever so a reboot is no huge surprise. And The Lion King is just one of many live-action remakes Disney has lined up with Beauty and the Beast set to come out next year.
